Partner with the AIP Investment Facility for Climate Resilient Water Investments in Africa

Partnership in the AIP Investment Facility is voluntary and open to governments, regional, and national entities accredited to the GCF and other global climate funds. Development finance entities, knowledge institutions, private sector, and other entities committed to supporting countries in preparing high quality water projects for climate-resilient development are welcome to be part of the partnership

How does your organisation fit in?

National Designated Authorities (NDAs) are responsible for in-country coordination of climate and water stakeholders and liaise with the Partnership.

Green Climate Fund (GCF) Direct Access Entities (DEAs) and Regional Accredited entities lead preparation of water project ideas into GCF concept notes and full proposals.

Water ministries and other nominated water agencies by NDAs are responsible for originating project ideas, needs for capacity development and provision of technical project information.

Global and Regional technical partners are responsible for supporting in-country capacity for project development and implementation.

Partner Responsibilities and Obligations

Provide technical support responding to country requests for GCF project preparation

Share knowledge and experiences on project preparation of GCF water projects

Evaluate and respond to requests for support from countries or entities seeking assistance to outline and implement a project-specific support plan

Mobilize financial support and technical assistance for project preparation

Founding members of the Partnership are the convening organizations of the 1st Africa wide Technical Workshop on Project Preparation: Transformational Climate Resilient Water Project Concepts in Africa for the Green Climate Fund: Global Water Partnership Africa, African Development Bank, Development Bank of Southern Africa, Africa Climate Change Fund, Infrastructure Consortium for Africa/African Development Bank, Africa Water Facility/AfDB, Climate Resilient Infrastructure Development Facility, GCF National Designated Authorities, GCF Direct Access Entities (DAEs), and Water Ministries/agencies present at the Inaugural Africa workshop.
