23 September – “Mobilising commitments towards the AU Africa Water Investment Summit and UN 2026 Water Conference” during Water Day at the Science Summit
Convened by South Africa’s Water Research Commission (WRC) under the Department of Water and Sanitation and in collaboration with AU and High-Level Panel, this panel forms part of “Water Day” at UNGA’s Science Summit.
The AU-AIP High-Level Panel on Water Investments for Africa Alternate Co-Chair, H.E. Jakaya Kikwete (shown left), will join the African Union Commission and other global leaders in a panel to craft a roadmap towards the AU-AIP Africa Water Investment Summit. The latter will be convened within the context of South Africa’s G20 Presidency and as a milestone towards the UN 2026 Water Conference. Download a comprehensive brochure about this event here.
25 September – AIP at the High-Level Dialogue on International Financial Architecture Reform
The AIP has joined the Paris Pact for People and the Planet (4P) hosted by President Emmanuel Macron and global leaders, including the AIP High-Level Panel Founding Co-Chair H.E. Macky Sall as Special Envoy.
At the 78th UNGA, the AIP will attend the 4P High-Level Dialogue on International Financial Architecture Reform, organised by Global Citizen NOW and including an address from H.E. Macky Sall and 8th UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
24 September – Turning on the Taps: A new agenda for water security in a climate-stressed world
AIP will participate in a roundtable discussion, organised by WaterAid, focused on the Global Commission on the Economics of Water’s priority areas for action. The event will consider how just water partnerships can enable water resilience and sustainability investments in low- and middle-income countries.
