The International High-Level Panel on Water Investments for Africa, in collaboration with Global Water Partnership (GWP), will convene an official high-level side event during the UN 2023 Water Conference to launch the campaign “Mind the Gap – Invest in Water”.
“MIND THE GAP – Invest in Water” is a one-year campaign of the AIP International High-Level Panel on Water Investments for Africa, designed to raise awareness and influence change to address the gaps in water governance, finance, and capacity for improved access to water and sanitation services by 2030.
The goal of the campaign is to double current funding for water security, sanitation services, improve governance and capacity for growth and development. The objective of the campaign is to raise awareness and influence change to address the gaps in water governance, finance, and capacity for improved access to water security and sanitation services by 2030.
The event will also unveil and launch the Changemakers 2.0 as a global innovation challenge to identify and showcase the most promising innovations with the greatest potential for scale up and investment to support a water-secure world. The High-Level Panel in partnership with Changemakers 2.0 will seek proposals from those innovations that have already proven their business model by operating for at least one year. Selected winning proposals will receive seed funding to develop the investment opportunity to access debt and equity funding to enable them to scale up. Changemakers 2.0 follows a highly successful 2020 Water Changemakers Awards convened by GWP with more than 30 partners around the world.
