Launch of the AU-Africa Water Investment Platform and AIP Blended Facility: Mobilizing Commitments for Implementing the AU-AIP Investment Action Plan
9th Africa Water Week, Cairo, Egypt
Sunday 13 October, 15:00-16:30 GMT+3
Triumph Luxury Hotel, Room: PICASSO 1
The event will launch the AU Africa Water Investment Platform which will link countries seeking funding to finance sources, and investors seeking projects to a pipeline of good investable projects, as well as investment opportunities on water and climate resilience. The Platform will be linked to the AIP Blended Investment and Knowledge Facility currently under development, to link projects with finance sources and technical assistance to prepare bankable projects by leveraging existing project development facilities.
The session will also outline support to be offered to at least 20 African countries by the African Union, Green Climate Fund (GCF) and AIP Partners to mobilise gender-transformative, climate-resilient water investments.
The session will be convened by the African Union Commission (AUC) in collaboration with the AIP International High-Level Panel on Water Investments for Africa and AIP Partners including AUDA-NEPAD, United Nations Development Programme, UNICEF, Development Bank of Southern Africa, UN Capital Development Fund and others.
The session will also highlight progress in mobilising investments by the African Union’s High-Level Panel and share perspectives on accelerating blended climate-resilient water investments in Africa and opportunities for partnerships. The session will also present opportunities for technical and finance partners to support the AU-AIP High Level Panel Investment Action Plan and AU Climate Resilience Development Strategy.
