UPDATED 4 April 2023: The Report of the International High-Level Panel on Water Investments for Africa was released on 22 March 2023 during the UN 2023 Water Conference. Access the report here.

The International High-Level Panel on Water Investments for Africa, which draws representatives from current and former Heads of State as well as other global leaders, will release its High-Level Report during the UN 2023 Water Conference, 22-24 March 2023, in New York – the first United Nations conference on water issues since 1977.

The report will outline actionable pathways for countries to mobilise at least US$30 billion annually by 2030 for implementing the Continental Africa Water Investment Programme (AIP) and closing the existing water investment gap in Africa, which is estimated at US$ 11-19bn/year.

The primary audiences for the report are Heads of State and top levels of African Governments, including the Ministers of those ministries responsible for financing and implementing SDG 6 and SDGs that are dependent on water security.

The development of the High-Level Report has included two hybrid Pan-African stakeholders consultations with water-sector professionals from government and civil society to input on the content priorities. Stakeholders still have the opportunity to input into the development of the Report as well as the supporting Investment Action Plan which will be released in September 2023.

Inputs can be made via this form. This form will be open until 17 March 2023. Any questions about this process can be sent to info@aipwater.org.
