Overview on Climate Resilience Efforts

Guinea submitted its revised NDC in 2021, strengthening its adaptation goals and aligning them with national strategies, Sustainable Development Goals, and gender and youth inclusion. Consultations with the NDA identified several Readiness Needs, including targeted training for the water sector on climate finance, support for advancing Direct Access, private sector engagement, and development of a systematic, climate-resilient investment programme for the water sector.

Gender Dimensions of Climate Change

In Guinea, gender-based vulnerabilities are significant. Women are frequently excluded from decision-making processes related to climate adaptation. Social practices such as female genital mutilation and child marriage—driven by cultural norms—limit women’s opportunities for education and active participation in climate response efforts. These inequalities increase women’s vulnerability to climate change impacts.
