Gender metrics

This section of this Knowledge Management Platform provides a structured approach to understanding, tracking, and advancing gender equality and social inclusion within climate-resilient water investments. Grounded in the principles of Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI), this section recognizes that climate change impacts are not experienced equally, and that existing social, economic, and cultural inequalities shape how different groups, particularly women, girls, and marginalized communities, access resources, opportunities, and decision-making processes.

This section also aligns with the Green Climate Fund’s commitment to gender equality and the inclusion of Indigenous Peoples, emphasizing that these are not merely compliance requirements, but essential components of sustainable development. It highlights the importance of integrating gender considerations across the entire project lifecycle, from design and implementation to monitoring and evaluation, while promoting inclusive stakeholder engagement, accountability, and institutional change. Recognizing women and vulnerable groups as key agents of change, the platform underscores their critical role in shaping resilient and inclusive climate solutions.

The Gender Metrics section provide users with practical tools, indicators, and insights to assess progress, identify gaps, and strengthen gender-transformative outcomes. It contributes to building systems and investments that are not only climate-resilient, but also just, inclusive, and responsive to the needs and rights of all people.
