The following two events at the 9th Africa Water Week will focus on progress in mobilising investments for climate-resilient African water and sanitation and implementing the African Union’s Continental Africa Water Investment Programme (AIP).
Launch of the AU-Africa Water Investment Platform and AIP Blended Facility: Mobilizing Commitments for Implementing the AU-AIP Investment Action Plan
The event will launch the AU Africa Water Investment Platform which will link countries seeking funding to finance sources, and investors seeking projects to a pipeline of good investable projects, as well as investment opportunities on water and climate resilience. The Platform will be linked to the AIP Blended Investment and Knowledge Facility currently under development, to link projects with finance sources and technical assistance to prepare bankable projects by leveraging existing project development facilities.
The event will also showcase the AU-AIP Green Climate Fund Readiness support for the development of national climate-resilient water investment programmes in at least 20 African countries. More information.

Ministerial Breakfast Interactive Consultation on Mobilising Commitments towards the African Union Water Investment Summit 2025
Convened by South Africa, in collaboration with Senegal and the AU-AIP International High-Level Panel on Water Investments for Africa.
The session will provide an update to African water ministers on the main outcomes emerging from the United Nations General Assembly 2024 related to the AU Water Investment Summit in 2025, within the context of South Africa’s G20 Presidency.
The session will mobilise commitment amongst African water ministers and seek input towards convening an AU Water Investment Summit in 2025, within the context of South Africa’s G20 Presidency and outline a roadmap towards the AU Water Investment Summit in 2025. More information.
